On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, a Florida judge granted temporary custody of 14-year-old Andreas Nicolas to the child’s father, Spanish businessman Nicolas “Colate” Vallejo-Najera, Paulina Rubio’s ex-husband.
The ruling authorizes the teenager to join Colate in Spain during the summer vacations, despite the opposition of the Mexican singer, who does not have a good relationship with the businessman.
Allegations, evidence and Paulina Rubio’s son’s case

This resolution follows an intense dispute that began in June, when Paulina filed a lawsuit alleging that her son had been held without consent by his father, whom she accused of perpetrating an emotional kidnapping.
Paulina claimed that Andreas had not been with her since his graduation on June 5 and alleged that he had been “programmed” by his father.
For his part, Colate denied the accusations and assured that he took the child to his mother, but did not find Paulina.
He claimed that the minor was living under a “toxic” environment and even cited a recent incident in which Paulina allegedly hit him after taking his cell phone, after which the police were called to his home.
The judge decided to grant temporary custody to Colate and authorized the child’s travel.
In addition, he ordered that both parents and Andreas begin family therapy, in order to address emotional tensions and improve communication.
Immediate consequences

Andreas Nicolas must soon fly to Spain to spend the summer with his father and paternal family.
Meanwhile, Paulina Rubio remains in Miami and plans to appeal the decision, although the judge ruled that her attendance in Spain implied a risk of possible arrest due to two pending court cases in Spain (one for alleged abuse and the other for obstruction), which would have worked against the singer.
La relación de Paulina Rubio con Colate se ha deteriorado con el paso de los años, pues desde su ruptura no terminaron bien, pero ahora con los problemas legales, todo se hizo más complicado
Custody implications

Custody is not final: it is a temporary decision that can be modified at future hearings.
Parental manipulation and alienation: this is a legally significant issue that may influence judicial decisions.
Therapy as a judicial measure: the court prioritizes the emotional well-being of the children, recommending psychological intervention.
International legal implications: residing or traveling with minors may involve obstacles such as court orders in different countries.
What will happen with Paulina Rubio?
