Series premieres for the month of May

The expansion of the Yellowstone universe with ‘Dutton Ranch’, the premiere of the second season of ‘Berlin and the Ermine Lady’ from the world of ‘The Paper House’, the ninth season of ‘Rick and Morty’ and ‘Spider Noir’ with Nicolas Cage, are the most outstanding series proposals on the platforms for May.

– ‘Dutton Ranch’ (Paramount+ – May 15).

The new series in the ‘Yellowstone’ universe stars Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, who reprise their roles as Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton. The plot follows the couple as they attempt to build a new life in Texas, far from the past, as they face a hostile environment and are forced to contend with a ruthless rival ranch trying to protect its empire.

– ‘Spider-Noir’ (Prime Video – May 27)

The highly anticipated ‘Spider-Noir’, starring Nicolas Cage in his first major series role, will be available in two visual versions: ‘True Black and White’ or ‘True-Hue Full Color’, depending on the viewer’s preference. Based in an alternate universe within the Spider-Man saga, the story follows Ben Reilly, a private detective in 1930s New York who confronts his past after a personal tragedy.

– ‘The Boroughs’ (Netflix – May 21).

The Duffer brothers are the executive producers of this series that in a way replicates their big hit, ‘Stranger Things’. Science fiction and horror mix in this story starring a retirement community (instead of teenagers) that is haunted by something monstrous. Alfred Molina, Geena Dabis and Bill Pulman are among the stars.

– Rick and Morty’ (Max – May 25)

The flagship animated series for adults returns on May 25 with its ninth season. Its creators, Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, sign a new installment of intergalactic adventures of grandfather and grandson that will once again travel the multiverse in adventures full of humor, science fiction and mayhem.

– ‘Berlin and the Ermine Lady’ (Netflix – May 15).

The second installment of the series derived from the universe of ‘La casa de papel’, created by Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato, lands on May 15 with a plot centered on a robbery in Seville (Southern Spain). Pedro Alonso, Michelle Jenner, Tristán Ulloa, Begoña Vargas, Julio Peña Fernández and Joel Sánchez continue in the saga, with the addition of Inma Cuesta, José Luis García-Pérez and Marta Nieto.

– ‘RAFA’ (Netflix, May 29).

This sports documentary series gathers testimonies from those who know Rafa Nadal best on and off the court. The documentary, which starts in his early childhood, shows the evolution to become one of the best tennis players in history and the physical and emotional wear that has marked his career.

– Song of the Samurai’ (Max – May 9)

Based on the famous manga of the same name, the series travels to Kyoto at the end of the Edo period to follow the intense and passionate lives of the Shinsengumi, the emblematic samurai force that defended the city in the last years of the Japanese shogunate. The series, directed by Kazutaka Watanabe, follows in the footsteps of street fighter Toshizo Hijikata (Yuki Yamada), who finds a new family in his fellow fighters.

– Rivals’ (Disney+ – May 15)

The Disney+ original series, based on the novel by Jilly Cooper, returns with the first part of its second season in a project that explores the intense romances between its main characters – Rupert and Taggie, Freddie and Lizzie, Declan and Maud, Charles and Gerald, and Sarah and Paul – and will be shaken by new twists and conflicts.

– ‘Unconditional’ (Apple TV+, May 8th)

This dramatic series begins with a vacation cut short when Gali, a 23-year-old girl, is arrested for drug trafficking in Moscow. Her mother, convinced of her innocence, begins a struggle that will lead her into a dangerous web of crime and corruption. The series stars Ronn and Chamami, reported Agencia EFE, and features Amir Haddad, Yossi Marshek, Evgenia Dodina and Vladimir Friedman.
