Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci and other stars of the iconic film ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ celebrated the release of the sequel in New York on Monday, 20 years after the original film that marked pop culture.
The red carpet of the premiere at Lincoln Center was a fashion display worthy of the fictional magazine Runway, led by its four stars, who posed smiling between two huge sculptures of shoes with a trident in the heel, symbol of the play.
Streep, 76, who plays the redoubtable Miranda Priestley, director of Runway, wore an orange coat-dress paired with pumps and long black gloves, matched with oversized sunglasses.
Hathaway, 43, and playing the no-longer-novice Andy Sachs, then Priestley’s assistant, appeared in a red satin gown with a lingerie bodice and voluminous skirt, complete with red heeled sandals.
Blunt, 43, the veteran assistant to the director, wore a light-colored dress with a romantic feel and cascading tulle overlay, while Tucci, 65, the fashion director who mentors Sachs, wore a classic dark suit with a velvet jacket.
Not wanting to miss the event were a host of celebrities, including actress Simone Ashley, who is a new assistant in the film; model Coco Rocha, designer Christian Siriano, singer Ciara and athlete Russell Wilson.
The premiere was the culmination of a worldwide promotional tour that has lasted more than a month, reported Agencia EFE, in which the protagonists have turned each presentation into a fashion catwalk, honoring the theme of the film.
