Just minutes before the clock struck 8:00 PM in Washington and the world was bracing for the worst, President Donald Trump released the news everyone was waiting for: there will be no bombing tonight. In a dramatic turn of events, the president announced via Truth Social that he has decided to grant a two-week extension to Iran and establish an immediate bilateral ceasefire.
The decision, which defuses a global ticking time bomb, did not come for free. Trump revealed that he held critical last-minute talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir. It was the Pakistani leaders who personally pleaded with him to “contain the destructive force” that was already poised to be launched on Iranian infrastructure.

The deal is clear: Trump suspends attacks on bridges and power plants (those he promised to return to the “Stone Age”) on the condition that Tehran guarantees the full, immediate and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The objective remains the same: to stabilize oil prices and ensure the flow of goods, but now the path is negotiation and not missiles.
“We have already met and surpassed all military objectives,” the Republican asserted, claiming that Washington and Iran are at a very advanced stage for a long-term peace agreement.
According to Trump, the 10-point plan Iran sent yesterday – which includes ending hostilities and lifting sanctions – is a “workable basis” that has already resolved almost all points of disagreement.

While this cease-fire is a huge relief, the next two weeks will be heart-stopping.
Diplomats will have to “consummate” the deal while U.S. and Israeli troops remain on alert, but with their finger off the trigger.
Trump was unusually optimistic, claiming that this historic conflict between Washington and Tehran is, at last, close to resolution.
This announcement completely changes the outlook for the thousands of people who formed human chains in Iran today to protect their cities.
For now, the lights will remain on and the bridges will remain standing.
What about you, Onnda? Do you think these two weeks will be enough to sign the definitive peace or is it just a pause before another crisis?
