Donald Trump’s visit to China has closed with a flourish and a piece of news that the financial markets were begging for. After hours of dialogue at the Great Hall of the People, the Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed that Xi Jinping and the US president reached “new consensuses” that define a roadmap for the next three years. The objective: a relationship of stability that the world, urging certainty, needed to see.
But the real bombshell came with the Iran issue. Beijing was blunt: “The door to dialogue must not be closed again.” In a coordinated move, both leaders agreed that it is vital to reopen “as soon as possible” the shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, the most critical point for the passage of oil worldwide.
Historic meeting between Xi Jinping and Trump
Here’s part of what was agreed in this meeting between President Trump and Jinping:
– China will not provide military equipment to Iran.
– Iran must not have nuclear weapons.
– Support for opening the Strait of Hormuz.
– China will buy 200 Boeing aircraft.

China called the current conflict a “war that should never have happened” and assured that both Washington and Tehran would benefit from an immediate political solution.
According to the White House, Xi and Trump agreed on two non-negotiable points:
Iran must not have nuclear weapons, under any circumstances.
The Strait of Hormuz should be free of passage charges and safe for hydrocarbon traffic.
This agreement seeks to shield global production chains and prevent energy shortages from continuing to hit citizens’ pockets.

The new orientation of China-U.S. ties will be based on what they have called “constructive strategic stability.”
Beyond the differences in technology or the Taiwan issue, both leaders decided to prioritize “coordination” in regional matters.
After visiting the Temple of Heaven together, it was clear that the personal chemistry between Xi and Trump – whom the Chinese received with top honors – has served to deepen mutual trust.
