Prince’s heirs have released an unreleased recording of “With This Tear,” a song the late artist originally composed and later gave to Celine Dion in the early 1990s, reports Billboard magazine.

The publication comes just ten years after the death of the author of “Purple Rain”. The American artist was found lifeless in 2016 in his Paisley Park, Minnesota studio after an accidental fentanyl overdose.

The new version of “With This Tear,” released by NPG Records and Legacy Recordings, includes Prince’s original recording of this piano ballad, which he composed, produced and performed himself.

According to Billboard, the song was first recorded in Paisley Park in November 1991, but remained unreleased until now, while Céline Dion’s version appeared on her 1992 album of the same name.

The newly released recording has been updated with a new mix by Grammy-nominated producer Chris James, who has worked on several Prince-related projects.

In 2024, a demo of “Baby Doll”, an unreleased collaboration between Prince and Kylie Minogue, also appeared on the Internet, which highlighted the wealth of material still preserved in his archives, reported Agencia EFE.
