Reggaeton singer Daddy Yankee, who now calls himself DY, will return to the stage after a nearly two-year hiatus when he performs at the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2025 on October 23 in Miami, the organization and Telemundo announced.

The performance at the James L. Knight Center represents DY’s return after concluding in December 2023 ‘La Ultima Vuelta,’ which he then called his “farewell tour” and sold nearly two million tickets and grossed more than $200 million, according to the Telemundo and Billboard release.

The organizers promised that the singer “now returns to inspire and thrill the audience with an unforgettable performance”, considering him “the artist who brought reggaeton to the global scene, inspiring generations of creators”.

“With countless awards, including Latin Grammy, Billboard Latin Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, ASCAP Awards and the Billboard Hall of Fame, he continues to be one of the most influential artists of all time,” they said.

Although there are still no details of his presentation, DY released in July ‘Sonríele’, a Christian song, an area to which he has dedicated himself during his break from the stage.

An interview had already been announced in August at Billboard Latin Music Week 2025, October 20-24 in Miami Beach, with the artist, whose real name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, who changed his stage name to DY to avoid giving royalties to his ex-wife after their divorce in February.

At the Billboard Awards ceremony, which will take place during that week, Telemundo also announced performances by Abraham Mateo, Angel Lopez, Arthur Hanlon, Grupo Frontera and Kapo.

They join the already announced Beéle, Danny Ocean, Juan Duque, La Arrolladora Banda El Limón de René Camacho, Laura Pausini, Musza, Netón Vega, NXNNI, Olga Tañón, Óscar Maydon and Ozuna.

Billboard Latin Music Week 2025, considered the most important gathering of the Spanish-language music industry, will be held in October at the Fillmore Miami Beach, the city where the internationalization of Latin artists began more than three decades ago.

Also in attendance, reported Agencia EFE, will be singers such as Pablo Alborán, Silvana Estrada, Anuel AA, Guaynaa, Ela Taubert, Carín León, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Goyo, Grupo 5, and Kali Uchis, while Mexico’s Peso Pluma will be the first to receive the Billboard Vanguardia Award.
