Mexico’s National Soccer Team continues to fine-tune details for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and one of its last preparation matches before the tournament will be against Ghana, an African rival that will also be present in the top international soccer competition.
The friendly match will be played on Friday, May 22 at Puebla’s historic Cuauhtémoc Stadium, a venue remembered for having hosted the 1970 and 1986 World Cups. Although Puebla was left out of the host cities for the 2026 World Cup, the stadium will once again host important international activities as part of the preparation of several national teams.
What time does Mexico vs Ghana play?
The match between Mexico and Ghana will kick off at the following hours in the United States:
8:00 p.m. Central Mexico time
10:00 p.m. ET (Eastern U.S.)
9:00 p.m. CT
7:00 p.m. PT
The match will be played at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium, located in Puebla, Mexico, and will be one of the last tests before the official start of the World Cup.
Mexico enters the final phase of preparation
El Tri’s training camp has already begun at the Mexican Soccer Federation’s High Performance Center.
Several players are working under the orders of the coaching staff while more players are being called up.
Mexico’s friendly against Ghana will allow “Vasco” Aguirre to test tactical variations.
As well as evaluating players and getting closer to the final list of 26 players who will play in the 2026 World Cup.
Mexico will open the World Cup next Thursday, June 11, when it faces South Africa at the Mexico City Stadium, formerly known as the Azteca Stadium.
