Uruguayan striker Rodrigo Aguirre’s Tigres UANL will visit Argentine coach Gabriel Milito’s Chivas Guadalajara this Saturday to decide the first semifinalist of the Clausura 2026 Liga MX tournament.

At Akron Stadium, one of the venues for the next World Cup, Chivas will try to take advantage of their home advantage to win by two goals, the only way they can qualify for the top four after losing the first leg 3-1.

Tigres is in high spirits after qualifying for the final of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Led by Argentine Guido Pizarro, the team is enjoying its best moment of the year.

But it remains to be seen if their stars are recovered from Tuesday’s match when they defeated MLS side Nashville.

In that match, Tigres suffered the injury-related absence of Uruguayan midfielder Fernando Gorriarán, one of their key players, who is in doubt to start this Saturday.

Guadalajara was the team most affected by Mexican coach Javier Aguirre’s idea of concentrating 12 Liga MX players as an advance party in preparation for the World Cup.

Of the dozen, five are from Chivas, which was unable to use them last Saturday and will not be able to use them today, including its goal scorer, Armando Gonzalez.

Pizarro knows that Guadalajara will be looking for the goals they need.

And he will give priority to maintaining defensive order, something he struggled with in the regular phase.

From that point on, they will be attentive to attack, with Aguirre and Argentinians Juan Brunetta and Ángel Correa as fundamental pieces in the offense (Filed under: Liga MX Tigres vs Chivas).

Cruz Azul, who beat Atlas in the first leg 2-3 and will be at home today, are more comfortable.

With the added advantage that in the event of a tie, they will advance to the semifinal by finishing higher than their opponent in the first stage of the championship.

The Azules have injured Argentine Nicolás Ibáñez and Uruguayan Gabriel Fernández.

But Nigeria’s Christian Ebere is in fine form, ready to lead the attack against an opponent that will need to play its best game of the year to win by two goals and qualify for the semifinal.

Atlas, team of Colombian goalkeeper Camilo Vargas, will look to be patient in search of goals.

With Mexican Alfonso González and Paraguayan Diego González as the two spark plugs of their offense (Filed as: Liga MX Tigres vs Chivas).
