Nashville, of Major League Soccer (MLS), surprised on Tuesday with a 1-0 victory over América, of Mexican soccer, to advance to the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
The MLS team will face the winner of Tigres UANL and Seattle Sounders in the next round. Nashville advanced with a 1-0 aggregate score, following a scoreless draw in the first leg of last week’s quarterfinal. Germany’s Hany Mukhtar scored the winning goal.
Nashville strikes effectively

In the first half, America only had a couple of close calls, but without scoring, against a Nashville team that was well organized defensively.
Then, in the second half, the visitors surprised with a raid down the right in which Costa Rican Warren Madrigal crossed for Mukhtar’s powerful shot to make it 0-1 in the 51st minute.
In the 65th minute, the referee stopped the match as a warning due to discriminatory shouts from the fans, a situation that was repeated in the 83rd minute.
The discriminatory shouting was repeated in the Mexican league at the friendly match between Mexico and Portugal on March 28, which was attended by FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
And in the second leg of the quarterfinal between Cruz Azul and Los Angeles FC, played earlier in the day at the Cuauhtémoc stadium in Puebla.
