Due to the proximity of the Border Patrol headquarters to the McAllen International Airport(MFE), authorities decided to delay all flights as a precautionary security measure.

This decision affected hundreds of passengers, although flights were gradually resumed during the afternoon of the same Monday.

FBI takes over the investigation

The case is being investigated directly by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

At a press conference, McAllen Police spokesman John Saenz said the scene remains secured.

More findings are not ruled out in the coming hours, without going into specific details at this time.

This incident underscores the need to reinforce security at federal facilities, especially at the southern border, where immigration activities, federal operations and air traffic converge.
