The fifth season of ‘Bridgerton’, one of Netflix’s most popular series, will premiere in 2027, breaking with the two-year premiere cycle that set the project to air each installment.
Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria previewed details of the return of the drama series set in the Regency era at an event in New York on Wednesday, although she did not specify a premiere date at this time, Deadline reported.
The fifth installment will address the story of Francesca Stirling, the middle daughter of the Bridgerton family, and Michaela Stirling, her late husband’s cousin. It will feature eight episodes and filming will take place in London.

Francesca, played by Hannah Dodd, married John Stirling (Victor Alli) at the end of the third season and in the fourth season, in which one of the plots is her lack of sexual pleasure with her husband, he passes away.
With the death of her husband, her cousin Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza) appears on the scene, with whom she develops a friendship that will go further in the fifth season, the entertainment giant said in a statement.
Bridgerton’ premiere tradition to be broken
Jess Brownell will return to helm the season, as she did for the third and fourth seasons, while Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica and Chris Van Dusen (series creator) will serve as executive producers.
The Bridgertons’ first season, which aired in 2020, is the seventh most-watched English-language fiction production in Netflix history, and the third installment ranks ninth.
The series adapts Julia Quinn’s bestselling saga of novels set in London high society during the Regency period (early 19th century).

So far, four seasons of the main story and a spin-off series, ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’, have been produced.
And it has become a breeding ground for new performers who have achieved great popularity, reported Agencia EFE, including Jonathan Bailey, Phoebe Dynevor, Simone Ashley, Regé-Jean Page, Nicola Coughlan and Claudia Jessie.
