Jake Paul once again placed the name of Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez at the center of the global boxing conversation. The influencer, businessman and professional boxer publicly assured that he is willing to pay the Mexican champion a purse of 200 million dollars to make a fight that, according to him, would be “the biggest in boxing today”.
The proposal was launched during a live broadcast, where Jake Paul again directly challenged the tapatío. “Canelo, I have 200 million dollars for you. Easy money. Jake Paul versus Canelo. Let’s do it,” declared the American in front of thousands of fans. Although many fans expected an immediate verbal response, the Mexican chose to react in a much briefer, but equally striking way.
Canelo’s response sparked the networks

Shortly after Jake Paul’s statements went viral, Canelo Alvarez posted on his Instagram stories three emojis of laughing faces.
Although he did not write any message, in social networks most fans interpreted the publication as a mockery of the youtuber’s proposal.
The reaction quickly generated thousands of comments among boxing fans.
Especially within the U.S. Hispanic community, where both Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul have enormous popularity.
Many fans believe that the Mexican does not see the American as a serious contender in professional boxing.
While others believe a fight between the two would break ratings and pay-per-view sales records.
Jake Paul insists on fighting Canelo

This is not the first time Jake Paul has publicly sought to face the Mexican champion.
In previous months, the influencer even claimed that there was a signed contract between the two to organize a fight before another important commitment in Canelo’s career was made official.
Jake Paul also criticized some of the Mexican’s sporting decisions and questioned previous opponents of the champion from Guadalajara.
“Canelo claims he doesn’t fight youtubers,” commented Paul, who also mentioned David Benavidez and Terence Crawford during his remarks.

Canelo’s future points to Saudi Arabia

While speculation about Jake Paul continues to grow, all indications are that Canelo Alvarez’s current focus is on high-level competitive boxing.
The 35-year-old Mexican has mentioned that he still has several years left in the professional ranks and several reports indicate that he has a fight scheduled in Saudi Arabia in September.
In addition, the name of Frenchman Christian Mbili constantly appears among the possible opponents of the Mexican champion in the super middleweight division.
Although there is no official confirmation of a fight against Jake Paul at this time, the mere possibility continues to fuel debate on social media and keeps both names dominating the global boxing conversation.
