Mexican singer Carín León will perform the first concert at Nu Stadium, Inter Miami‘s new stadium, on June 28 as part of his North American tour ‘De Sonora, para el mundo’ (From Sonora to the world).

“Being at Nu Stadium and being the first concert fills me with great pride. Miami has always been very important to me,” said the two-time Grammy winner in a statement released Wednesday by the Miami soccer team. “I believe that if music and sports serve to unite cultures and people, then we are doing things right,” added the singer.

The Miami stop is a new addition to the tour that Carín León began this month and that will take him to 53 stages in the United States, Mexico, Argentina and Canada until October 9.

Inter Miami’s new home will be inaugurated on April 4, nearly three years after construction began near Miami International Airport.

In addition to the stadium, called Nu Stadium for sponsorship reasons, the site will also include a 23-hectare public park, commercial space, hotels and offices.

While waiting for a permanent stadium, the club captained by Argentine Lionel Messi played its matches at Chase Stadium, a temporary field in Fort Lauderdale, north of Miami.
