British singer Dua Lipa sued Samsung Electronics for 15 million dollars for allegedly using her image without authorization on TV boxes that the company has been marketing since last year, according to U.S. media.
In the lawsuit, filed as reported Sunday by U.S. magazine Variety in a California court, the artist accuses the South Korean manufacturer of using her face on cardboard TV packaging without permission or compensation.
For its part, Samsung told EFE on Monday that it cannot comment on ongoing litigation.
According to the lawsuit, filed on May 8, the singer asked Samsung to stop using the image when she became aware of its appearance on the boxes, but the company rejected the request with an “indifferent and dismissive” attitude, Variety reported.

The lawsuit alleges that Samsung profited by creating the appearance that the singer was endorsing or promoting its televisions, something she did not authorize, and claims that the artist owns the copyright to the photograph used, taken at a U.S. festival in 2024.
The lawsuit also cites comments posted on social network X by users who suggested that the artist’s image on the box could influence their purchase.
Dua Lipa is one of the leading global pop stars, with some 65.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify, in addition to three Grammy awards in her career. The artist has collaborated with luxury brands such as Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, Porsche and Chanel, reported Agencia EFE.
