Historic thrashing! Spurs humiliate Wolves and pose serious threat to OKC

The San Antonio Spurs swept the Minnesota Timberwolves 139-109 on Friday on the road in Game 6 of the series and qualified for the NBA Western Conference Finals, where they will face the defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Spurs dominated from start to finish in Game 6 of the Western Semifinals against the Timberwolves, led by a 32-point, 11-rebound double-double from Stephon Castle.

The Texans shot 56% and connected on 18 of 38 three-point shots attempted.

They will return to a Western Finals for the first time since 2017.

Frenchman Victor Wembanyama contributed 19 points, six rebounds and three blocks and San Antonio’s entire starting five finished in double figures in scoring.

De’Aaron Fox had 21 points and nine assists, Julian Champagnie added 18 points and Devin Vassell had 11 points.

Coming off the bench, Dylan Harper contributed 15 points and 6-of-8 shooting.

They turned the game upside down with an overwhelming 20-0 run in the second quarter.

In which the scoreboard reflected an extraordinary 56-27 for the Spurs against the Timberwolves.

The Wolves, in which Anthony Edwards scored 24 points, Terrence Shannon Jr. contributed 21 and Naz Reid scored 18, gave themselves a chance by answering with a 27-11 run in that same segment.

They managed to get within thirteen points at the end of the quarter, but the Spurs completed the job after the break.

An 11-4 run at the beginning of the third quarter gave them a comfortable margin again and the Wolves could not avoid elimination.

A 36-23 run in that quarter gave the San Antonio Spurs a 26-point lead in the 110-84 win over the Timberwolves and the Texans were able to manage energy in the final segment.

Fox, who gave a scare in the first half with an ankle problem before continuing to compete, did not play any minutes in order not to take any risks.

The Spurs will kick off the West Finals on Monday against the Thunder, who sealed their berth in the playoffs by completing a 4-0 shutout of the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.

The Texans were the only team in the NBA capable of beating the Thunder four times this season, between the regular season and the Cup.

In the East, the New York Knicks await one between Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons.
