The matchup between the Chargers and Chiefs, corresponding to Week 1 of the 2025 season, will be the second in history to take place in Brazil, following the matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles at the beginning of last season.

For this game, the NFL chose 2024 Grammy winner Karol G to be the headliner for its halftime show, which will be streamed for free on the YouTube platform.

“I am very excited to be a part of the NFL’s first-ever live broadcast on YouTube. It’s a true honor and a moment I’m very proud of. I have seen many NFL halftime shows and to have this opportunity to bring my music to this global stage means a lot to me,” said the Colombian singer in the same statement.

It will be broadcasted on YouTube

Member of YouTube’s ‘Billion-View Club’ with almost 30 billion views on her YouTube channel, Karol G has established herself as one of the most popular singers globally, something that was decisive for the NFL to choose her.

For the NFL, the partnership with YouTube has helped strengthen the league’s global penetration. According to data from the National Football League, last year, the league’s official content had more than 350 million hours of content.

In addition to Karol G, the league announced that Brazilian star Ana Castela will perform the Brazilian national anthem before the start of the game. Agencia EFE reported that Kamasi Washington, a U.S. jazz saxophonist and composer, will also perform the U.S. national anthem.
