A new national poll published in April 30, 2025 by CNN and conducted by the SSRS polling institute, reveals that 52% of Americans disapprove of the immigration policies of Donald Trump’s Administration, who is going through his first 100 days of a new presidential term.

This percentage reflects a significant increase in disapproval compared to last February, when the figure stood at 45%. Only 33% of those polled currently support his immigration management, a drop from 39% two months ago.

The rejection is centered on the implementation of mass deportations under the Alien Enemies Act.

A legislation that had only been invoked in times of war and that Trump now uses in his immigration policies as a legal basis to accelerate expulsions.

One of the cases that has caused the most indignation is that of Kilmar Ábrego García, a Salvadoran migrant who was deported despite having a judicial protection order.

He was sent to a maximum security prison in El Salvador, which generated protests in the U.S. and public pressure to allow his return.

Fifty-six percent of those surveyed are in favor of their return.

Moreover, 52% believe that these measures have not made the country safer, as the White House argues.

Only 43% believe that the government acts with care in enforcing immigration laws, compared to 57% who think the opposite.

The figures show a negative effect on the president’s perception.

Although Trump’s immigration policies have more support than his overall approval, it remains low:

Just 41% approve of his overall performance in his first 100 days, the lowest rate since records have been kept, even compared to his first term in office between 2017 and 2020.
