“James was a legend. The first time I met him was at a coffee shop outside Austin and we talked about a script for a movie we wanted to work on together. His charisma and energy were immediately evident,” Burr wrote.
The director also highlighted the performer’s human depth, underlining his passion for both his work and his family life and the environment he had built in rural Texas. According to Burr, Van Der Beek was a man of firm convictions, someone who lived with intensity every project he undertook.
