Pumas UNAM defeated San Luis 2-0 on Friday and jumped to second place in the standings of the Clausura 2026 Mexican soccer tournament.
At the start of the fifteenth matchday of the championship, Brazilian Juninho and Jordan Carrillo scored for the universitarios, who dominated most of the match and when not, defended well.

The first half was a struggle.
In the 37th minute, Paraguay’s Robert Morales took a shot at goal and narrowly missed.
The Pumas took the lead four minutes later with a penalty kick taken by Juninho.
At the end of the first half, Brazil’s Nathan Silva took a ball from Panama’s Adalberto Carrasquilla and smashed it against the post.
But in the second half, San Luis started better, dominated, but could not confirm it with goals.
In the 87th minute, Carrillo extended the universitarios’ lead with a right-footed shot from a free kick into the corner of the net.

Pumas has eight wins, six draws, one loss and 30 points, one less than the leader Guadalajara.
In another game on Friday, Querétaro drew 1-1 at Mazatlán’s stadium.
A well-taken penalty kick by Brian Rubio put Mazatlán ahead in the 30th minute, and a penalty kick by Alí Ávila salvaged the equalizer for Querétaro.
The fifteenth round of the Liga MX will continue on Saturday, when leaders Guadalajara, coached by Argentine Gabriel Milito, will host Puebla.
Champion Toluca will visit América; Tigres UANL will visit Necaxa, Tijuana will visit Cruz Azul, Pachuca will visit Monterrey and Juárez will visit León.
On Sunday, Santos Laguna will host Atlas.
