The new film from the George Lucas universe, ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’, leads the box office this weekend with $165 million worldwide and $102 million in North America.

These figures correspond to a weekend extended to three days for the Memorial Day holiday. According to data from the specialized website Box Office Mojo.

Despite topping the billboard, this debut is one of the lowest for a film in the ‘Star Wars’ (‘Star Wars’) franchise since it has been integrated into Disney, and is below ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ (‘Han Solo: A Star Wars Story’), so far considered the least commercially successful title in the saga, according to Variety.

The film, directed by Jon Favreau and starring Pedro Pascal, marks the galactic franchise’s return to theaters seven years after the release of ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ (‘Skywalker Rising’, 2019).
