The Mexican National Soccer Team began training on Monday for the October FIFA friendly matches against Colombia and Ecuador, which are part of the preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
With a group of 25 players, coach Javier Aguirre began work on Saturday’s match against Colombia at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas (USA) and on Tuesday, October 14, against Ecuador at the Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, one of Mexico’s host cities for the 2026 World Cup.
Aguirre conducts his first practice with El Tri

Vasco Aguirre led a practice with the players at the High Performance Center in Mexico City.
The matches will be important for the Mexican National Team, which has qualified for the World Cup along with the other hosts (United States and Canada).
The two South American countries with which they will play also have secured tickets for next year’s tournament.
Among the surprises of the call-up is Kevin Álvarez, America’s fullback, who was called up due to the injury of Rodrigo Huescas, from Copenhagen in Denmark.
“I’m happy for my call-up because it’s been a complicated few months in my career, but you know you can turn everything around.”
“Rodrigo’s injury is sad, but the competition in the group has always been strong,” Alvarez said.
Kevin returns to the Mexican National Team after not doing so since 2023, when Aguirre was not yet the coach.
Ramón Juárez seeks to earn a place in the company’s portfolio
Another new face in the squad is Ramón Juárez, an América center back who has only played one game for El Tri, in June of this year in Mexico’s 2-4 friendly loss to Switzerland.
“It is clear to me that my dream is to be in the World Cup, I will make the effort to achieve it.”
“The group we have is good, we all get along well and that’s something that adds a lot because you feel comfortable when you come here,” said the 24-year-old defender.
