Argentine Guido Pizarro, coach of Tigres UANL, said on Wednesday that if any Mexican soccer team can turn around adverse results, it is the one he is in charge of, and therefore they will try to prove it on Thursday in the CONCACAF Champions Cup against U.S. Cincinnati.
“If there is a team that can come back, it is us. We hope to play a perfect game to reach the quarterfinals,” said the coach at a press conference.
Against the ropes

Tigres, Mexico’s best team in the last 15 years, with 6 league titles and 4 more finals, was thrashed 3-0 by the Americans in the first leg.
They have everything against them to reach the quarterfinals.
Guido Pizarro accepted that decisiveness will be key and the Tigres players will go out to make their presence felt from the start.
“From the first minute we have to look for the goal, although we are concerned with not giving our opponents a chance.”
“We must be forceful without giving our opponents a chance,” he said.
Guido Pizarro explained to the media that at Tigres there is a sense of self-criticism and the demand is great, which they hope to confirm this Thursday.
According to the strategist, the support of the fans, perhaps the most loyal in Mexico, will be decisive for the comeback.

Believe in historic comeback

“We know how important the fans are to us, the players are giving their all, tomorrow (today, Thursday) we need to push together.”
“The guys are ready to make it to the quarterfinals,” he said.
Tigres trained this Wednesday and Guido Pizarro checked the physical condition of Uruguayan midfielder Fernando Gorriarán, one of the regulars in the lineup, who will play if he considers it safe for his health.
“He is an important player, but the most important thing is that he recovers well. If he’s not ready, we have people to move forward,” he added.
Argentine goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán supported coach Guido Pizarro’s idea that Tigres knows how to come from behind, something that has been demonstrated by the group on several occasions.
“It’s not something that only we as players know about; the opponents know about it.”
“If there’s one team that can turn around a situation like this one we’re in, it’s us.”
“It’s a guarantee and an extra that the environment and the rivals see it,” he explained.
