U.S. President Donald Trump lashed out at Robert De Niro by calling him “sick and insane” after the ‘Godfather’ actor called on a podcast to “get rid” of the president.
In a message posted on his social networks, Trump called the performer “mentally unstable” and questioned his intelligence.
Trump’s reaction came after the ‘Taxi Driver’ actor spoke openly and emotionally about his dissatisfaction with President Trump’s administration and called on Americans to do something to remove him from power in the upcoming midterm elections.
“Trump is the enemy of this country, let’s not kid ourselves,” De Niro said on Nicolle Wallace’s ‘The Best People’ podcast, released Monday.
“Let’s not fool ourselves. He will not go away (from power). It’s up to us to get rid of him. We have to make sure… We have to get rid of him. He is going to ruin the country. People have to mobilize now and be ready for the midterm elections,” the actor added.
Trump rants against actor Robert De Niro

Trump’s response was not long in coming, and in the same publication he lashed out at Democratic Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, who on Tuesday night confronted the president during the State of the Union address.
Omar shouted, “You have killed Americans,” during a criticism against undocumented immigrants, while Tlaib asked about the Epstein files, which were left out of the president’s speech.
“(Omar and Tlaib) Should get on a boat with Trump obsessed Robert De Niro, another sick and demented person with, I believe, an extremely low IQ, who has no idea what he is doing or saying, something that is truly CRIMINAL!” wrote Trump.
“When I saw him break down crying last night, as a child would, I realized he might be even sicker than crazy Rosie O’Donnell, who right now is in Ireland trying to figure out how to get back to our beautiful United States” he added.
De Niro has publicly and frequently shown his rejection of Trump since his first term in office 2017-2021, which has earned him insults from the president on several occasions, Agencia EFE reported.
