Hollywood star Vin Diesel revolutionized the red carpet at the stroke of midnight on Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival, which welcomed the team of the ‘Fast & Furious’ saga to elevate it to the category of cinema classic, on the 25th anniversary of the release of its first installment.
In a 79th edition characterized by the scarce presence of American mega-productions, Diesel landed on the beach of the Croisette fully into the role of ambassador of the American blockbuster, signing autographs, joking and taking pictures non-stop with the dozens of fans who remained stationed next to the Palais des Festivals.
“Perfect!”, “amazing!”, he shouted every time he went from mobile screen to mobile screen to take ‘selfies’ with the audience, not particularly concerned that his spontaneity was delaying the screening of ‘The Fast and the Furious’ (Rob Cohen, 2001) in this European cinema mecca.

Waiting for him by the iconic 24 steps leading up to the Grand Théâtre Lumière were his ‘Fast & Furious’ co-stars Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster, dressed up for the occasion.
The man who plays Dominic Toretto, meanwhile, skipped protocol by opting for a black suit and shirt without a tie, with a jacket that also held a surprise on the back: the silhouette of a shiny car with the inscription “fast forever”.
Also in Cannes was the daughter of the late Paul Walker, actress Meadow Walker, whose presence allowed the general delegate of the festival, Thierry Frémaux, to take the opportunity to express a special memory on behalf of the event for the man who co-starred in the first films.
“This movie you are about to see is the beginning of a word. And that word is love,” Diesel said inside the theater.

The screening of the first ‘Fast & Furious’ film was included in the program of the Cannes Classics section, dedicated to celebrating the history of cinema and the titles that have had the greatest impact on the seventh art.
And this Universal studio franchise has done just that, reported Agencia EFE, by grossing more than US$7 billion in 12 films to date, with another one scheduled for release in 2028.
