The fragile peace that the world was breathing just a few weeks ago has been shattered. This Thursday, just 29 days after a ceasefire was declared, the waters of the Strait of Hormuz once again became a theater of war.
The United States and Iran engaged in a violent exchange of missiles and drones that threatens global stability and the supposed progress towards a peace agreement that President Donald Trump was advocating just 24 hours earlier.
US and Iran break truce

True to his style, the Republican leader used his platform, Truth Social, to report on the incident.
According to Trump, three U.S. destroyers – the USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta and USS Mason – crossed the strait under enemy fire.
“Missiles were launched against our ships, but they were easily shot down,” the president asserted, calling the Iranian aggression a failed attempt.
Later, in front of ABC cameras, Trump tried to downplay the seriousness of the issue by calling it a “love tap,” though his rhetoric on social media was far more incendiary.
The U.S. Central Command confirmed that, in retaliation, they attacked command and control centers in Iranian territory.
“We will defeat them with much more force and violence if they don’t sign their agreement FAST!”, Trump sentenced, maintaining the naval blockade on the Islamic republic.
Tehran denounces attacks on oil tankers and civilian areas

The version from the other side of the world is radically different and alarming.
The Iranian Army, through Tasnim agency, denounced that Washington flagrantly violated the ceasefire by attacking an Iranian oil tanker and another vessel near the port of Fujairah (UAE).
But the complaint did not stop there.
Tehran claims that the U.S., in cooperation with regional allies, launched attacks on “civilian areas” on the coast of Bandar Jamir, Sirik and Qeshm Island.
In response, Iranian forces launched barrages against the US warships, defending what they see as a systematic violation of their sovereignty by the Trump administration.
Total uncertainty: Peace or mockery?

Despite the gunpowder and missiles, Trump insists that the ceasefire “remains in effect.”
Questioned by reporters at the White House on whether the attacks signified the end of the truce, the Republican responded with irony: “They mocked us today. We annihilated them. I call it a mockery.”
This new outbreak of violence leaves a halo of uncertainty over the negotiations.
While Trump claims that the Iranians “want a deal” more than anyone else, actions in the Strait of Hormuz suggest that diplomacy is hanging by a thread.
With the naval blockade tightened and threats of “annihilation” on the table, the world is watching nervously to see whether this May 7 will be remembered as an isolated incident or as the first shot of an escalation with no return.
What about you Onnda, do you think this exchange of attacks is really the end of the dialogue or just a pressure strategy by Trump?
