Republicans hold Georgia after Taylor Greene’s resounding exit

We tell you what's up with Trump's new Georgia point man and why Marjorie Taylor Greene was left behind

The political drama in Georgia’s 14th District has finally closed its most tense chapter. This Tuesday, Republican Clay Fuller emerged victorious in a special election, ensuring that the seat vacated by the controversial Marjorie Taylor Greene will remain in conservative hands until January 2027. While the result is not surprising – Georgia being a red-boned Republican stronghold – it is the backdrop of this election that has all of Washington buzzing.

Fuller, who had Donald Trump’s official “blessing,” managed to defeat Democrat Shawn Harris in a runoff that became necessary after no one achieved an outright majority in March. But, the real battle was not against the Democrats, but against the shadow of the woman who held that seat before.

Recall that the seat was vacated in November 2025, when Marjorie Taylor Greene walked out the back door after months of public feuding with President Trump.

The reason for the rift? Greene’s critical stance on the handling of the Epstein case, which led to a train wreck with the president.

Trump ended up labeling her a “traitor” and “eccentric,” while she claimed to be rejected by the “political elite.”

With Fuller’s arrival, Trump regains a loyal and “no-drama” vote, something House Speaker Mike Johnson was looking forward to like water under the bridge to consolidate his majority.

That’s why this Wednesday Trump took to his Truth Social account to weigh in on Clay Fuller’s victory in the 14th District.

“Marjorie “Traitor” Brown’s (GREEN TURNS BROWN UNDER PRESSURE!) seat in Congress has been taken by a wonderful and talented man, Clay Fuller, who won convincingly, and early on, despite many running for that “TRUMP +37″ seat, and despite the stench Greene left behind. Congratulations to Clay Fuller, a vast improvement over his unhinged predecessor!” wrote Trump on Truth Social.

The war of the bills: One million vs. 300 thousand

If you’re wondering why Democrat Harris didn’t have a chance, the answer is in the wallet.

According to Politico, the Republican machine spared no expense to ensure that this district did not slip through their fingers:

Clay Fuller: Received more than $1 million in support from outside groups aligned with the GOP.

Shawn Harris: He had to get by on a mere $300,000, with almost no support from the national Democratic leadership who saw the district as a lost cause.

Clay Fuller wins in the 14th district

With this triumph, the Republicans breathe easy.

Clay Fuller arrives to be a safe and disciplined vote, moving away from the incendiary profile of his predecessor.

For Trump, it is a symbolic victory: it shows that his endorsement remains the “Midas touch” in conservative districts and that he can purge uncomfortable figures without losing power in Congress.

Do you think Clay Fuller will be the quiet leader Georgia needs or will they miss the explosive style of Marjorie Taylor Greene?
