Says no to Tri

A promise's farewell: Marcelo Flores chooses Canada

Mexican soccer gives no respite, and when it’s not the lack of results on the field, it’s the talent drain in the desks. Between definitive resignations, an identity crisis that is eating away at the most traditional institutions and the return of World Cup refereeing to try to bring order to the chaos, the last matchday has left open wounds that will take a long time to heal.

All of this is analyzed on Nueva Jugada, the podcast hosted by Alex Loé and Linda Cavazos, because the structure of national soccer seems to be under scrutiny from which few will come out of it well.

Marcelo Flores chooses Canada

The soap opera is over, and the ending is not what Mexican fans were hoping for.

The young man who was once considered the great promise of the Mexican National Team, the player who awakened the illusion of seeing a “European” trained in the basic forces of the world’s elite, has made a decision of no return.

By official registration and before international organizations, Marcelo Flores has decided to represent the Canadian National Team.

The reality, as much as it hurts, is stark and direct: this move is not about a lack of love for the colors or a betrayal for convenience.

It is, in its purest essence, an appalling lack of opportunity and vision on the part of the Mexican sports system.

The weight of overvaluation and oblivion

As is well heard in the corridors of the Liga MX locker rooms and among the voices that know the bowels of Verde Valle and the CAR: “Today Marcelo wears the jersey of Canada because in Mexico he was simply not contemplated”.

While in the north of the country he was offered a life project and a leading role towards the next World Cup, in Mexico his name was diluted among bureaucratic processes and the lack of quality minutes.

The media hype that accompanied him since his debut in England ended up taking its toll at home.

However, his departure leaves an uncomfortable question in the air: how many more talents will be lost because we do not know how to integrate those who are trained outside our borders?

Flores will now seek World Cup glory with the North American team, leaving El Tri with a void that proves, once again, that talent without follow-through is talent lost.

Pumas: The giant that no longer fits at the table of the “Big Four”.

The situation of university students is alarming.

After a 52-tournament drought, being left out of CONCACAF is the final nail in the coffin of a management that seems to have no direction.

The phrase that echoes in the Olympic Stadium is devastating: “Even winning the Pumas lose”.

With Efraín Juárez on a tightrope, the board seems to have exhausted its patience. Are they still a big team?

The numbers say no.

Mental Health: The tears of Juan Bruneta

Not everything is tactical.

At Tigres, while they celebrate the goals scored by “Búfalo” Aguirre, the emotional stability of Juan Bruneta is a matter of concern.

Seeing a figure of his stature break down when substituted reminds us that behind the crack is a human being under suffocating pressure.

It is time to talk about mental health in high performance with the same seriousness as a muscle tear.
