MLS announced Tuesday that the league’s clubs will organize activities during the 2026 World Cup and use their stadiums to promote soccer at events with live broadcasts of tournament matches and other recreational activities.
Both league clubs and MLS itself will promote the 2026 World Cup being played across North America this summer with events called ‘Soccer Celebration’ that will include cultural programming, youth activities, interactive experiences and live match broadcasts, according to a statement.
New York and Seattle prepare to host World Cup 2026

In New York/New Jersey, site of the tournament final, the Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, where the New York Red Bulls play, will serve as the official fan venue.
It will be operated by the NY/NJ organizing committee, where several game viewing parties can be enjoyed.

In Seattle, the Seattle Sounders will host their World Cup celebration events on a soccer field.
It was custom built on a seagoing vessel in Elliott Bay.

MLS will make a historic break

The U.S. Soccer League will suspend its regular season after Matchday 15 on May 23-24.
With the international players ready to join their national team training camps ahead of the start of the World Cup on June 11 in Mexico.
MLS will return with Matchday 16 midweek on July 16 and 17.
Just a few days before the World Cup final on Sunday, July 19.
MLS was created in the wake of the 1994 World Cup in the United States with the goal of developing a professional soccer league.
