The most recent elimination gala of La Casa de los Famososproduced by Telemundosurprised both the contestants and the audience.
Just three weeks before the start of the competition, one of the contestants considered the strongest was left out of the reality show: the actor and former member of Garibaldi, Sergio Mayer.
Since the beginning of the program, Mayer was one of the favorites to go far in the game. However, the result of the U.S. public’s votes completely changed the course of the competition.
During the gala, the politician received the least amount of support among the nominees, which caused his early exit from the program.
Sergio Mayer expelled from La Casa de los Famosos

The elimination not only surprised viewers, but also several of the house’s own inhabitants. On the nomination board, Mayer competed against figures such as influencer Caeli and actress Julia Argüelleswho finally managed to stay in the reality show.
After learning the result, Mayer reacted calmly and made a comment that quickly began to circulate in social networks. “I love playing with fire and people decided to burn me,” said the actor as he said goodbye to his colleagues.
His early exit marked one of the most talked about moments of the season, as many believed that his strong personality and television experience would make him one of the stars of the show.
Even before joining the reality show, Sergio Mayer’s participation generated controversy. The actor joined the program at the last minute and requested a leave of absence from his position as federal congressman, which provoked criticism both among followers of the program and in the political sphere.
Mayer entered the House on February 17, and just one day later, reactions from the legislative branch arose. Senator Kenia López Rabadánwho at that time presided over the Board of Directors in San Lazaro, publicly warned that public representatives should conduct themselves with ethics and honorability, pointing out that their behavior impacted the image of politics.
The actor’s defense

In response to the wave of criticism, the actor’s team released a video on social networks in which Mayer explained the reasons for his participation in the program. According to his words, his intention was to take advantage of the visibility of the reality show to send a positive message about Latino culture in the United States.
In this context, he compared his participation with the media exposure that Latin artists have had in major international events, such as that of Bad Bunny during the halftime show of the Super Bowl.
In addition, Mayer assured that his alternate would continue with the legislative work corresponding to his parliamentary group while he remained in the program.
However, the controversy was not limited to comments on social networks. The case even reached the interior of the political party to which the actor belongs. The national leader of Morena, Luisa María Alcalde Lujánconfirmed that an internal procedure had been initiated to analyze the situation.
Subsequently, the National Commission of Honesty and Justice decided to suspend Mayer’s party rights, arguing that his participation in the reality show had generated a negative impact on the party’s image.
That same day, Luis Morales Flores was sworn in as a deputy before the Chamber of Deputies to fill the seat vacated by the actor. Morales had originally obtained the deputation through the tombola process for the 2024-2027 legislative term.
Thus, Sergio Mayer’s brief participation in La Casa de los Famosos not only caused a stir within the reality show, but also triggered repercussions in the political arena, becoming one of the most talked-about episodes of the season.
