Shakira described as “unforgettable and chilling” her massive free concert on Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, where she brought together some 2.5 million people on Saturday to “recognize the power of music.”

The Colombian singer posted a message on her social networks on Monday in which she thanked all the people who came to the place to witness the show of more than two hours in which she sang, danced and talked with the audience.

“The beauty of Copacabana reminds us of what really matters and the secret is to be present, to value what is in front of our eyes. Contemplate the sea, the beach, the mountains, feel the sun on our skin, the breeze. Because that is what we are made of”, said the artist.

Shakira assured that Saturday’s concert was a message from Latin America to the world that “it is simple to be happy” and affirmed that Rio de Janeiro remembers that “like no other place in the world”.

During the show, the artist from Barranquilla recognized the work done by women who take care of their children alone: “In Brazil there are more than 20 million single mothers, without help, who have to struggle every day to support their families. And I am one of them”.

The Colombian also thanked the local artists who shared the stage with her, such as Anitta, Caetano Veloso, Ivete Sangalo, Maria Bethania, the Unidos da Tijuca samba school and Dance Maré, with whom she sang her own songs and other traditional compositions of Brazilian popular music.

He also dedicated a few lines to his team and to the “thousands of people who worked day and night on this production, incorporating many changes that were difficult to execute” to provide a first class show.

Finally, she highlighted the effort made by the public who traveled from other cities in Brazil and even from different countries to accompany her and “make history”, making her feel that these 2.5 million people are “family”.

This concert is part of the ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour’, which began in February 2025 and will run through November of this year with a planned closing concert at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.

Copacabana beach has been the scene of successful free performances by Madonna in 2024 and Lady Gaga in 2025, reported Agencia EFE, and now Shakira is joining them as part of an event called ‘Todo mundo no Rio’ (Everyone not Rio).
