Australian singer Kylie Minogue reveals in a Netflix documentary that she was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in early 2021, but kept it a secret. “Luckily, I got over it. Again. And everything is fine,” she assures.
The artist, 57, reveals this new disease in the documentary “Kylie”, released Wednesday on the Netflix platform in which she reviews her professional career and other personal aspects of her life.
Minogue did not want to go public the second time she suffered from the disease because she was “emotionally devastated” and did not want to relive the media exposure that accompanied her breast cancer treatment in 2005.

“I was able to keep it to myself. Not like the first time,” Minogue notes in the three-part series, which is directed by Michael Harte.
“Luckily, I got through it. Again. And everything is fine. Who knows what the future holds for me, but pop music nourishes me…my passion for music is greater than ever,” he added.
The singer stated that the diagnosis occurred during a routine check-up and stressed the importance of medical check-ups and early detection. “There will be someone out there who will benefit from this reminder to get checked,” she states in the documentary.
“There was a time when I never wanted to leave home again. ‘Padam Padam’ opened a lot of doors for me, but inside I knew that cancer was not just a passing episode in my life. And I really just wanted to tell what happened so I could get over it. I would sit down to give interviews and at every opportunity I would think, ‘now is the time,’ but I kept it to myself,” she added.
The song ‘Story’, which he released in 2023 from the album ‘Tension’, refers to that period of his life, he revealed. In the song the lyrics relate “I had a secret that I kept to myself… Turn the page, baby, get on stage.”

Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005, at the age of 36, and was forced to cancel her greatest hits tour “Showgirl” as well as her performance at Glastonbury. The singer received the support of numerous fans, such as Elton John or Australian Prime Minister John Howard, but was also followed by paparazzi and journalists, as she recalls.
The documentary features testimonials from Minogue herself, her sister Dannii, and other singers such as Jason Donovan and Nick Cave, among others, reported Agencia EFE.
