Ugandan children’s dance group Ghetto Kids will dance alongside Colombian singer Shakira at the halftime show of the 2026 World Cup final to perform the tournament’s official song, ‘Dai Dai’, after the artist invited dancers from around the world to submit their choreography to take part in the show.

“I’m going to need dancers for the halftime show of the final. I want it to be special for everyone and unforgettable. That’s why I’ve decided to invite as many as I can. I already invited the Ghetto Kids, but I want to see all their creations and videos because I’m going to be watching them,” the artist expressed this Tuesday in a video.

In response, Ghetto Kids, a renowned Ugandan children’s dance group, released a video in which a dozen children appear dancing in colorful T-shirts and a large Colombian flag, celebrating their selection by the Barranquillera while singing the World Cup theme song.

The Ghetto Kids initiative, originally from the Katwe neighborhood in Kampala, Uganda, was created in 2014 by David Kavuma as a social project that uses music and dance to provide opportunities for vulnerable primary school children.

The group achieved international fame after participating in the video of ‘Sitya Loss’ by Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo and in programs such as ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.

Shakira will be one of the main artists of the first halftime show in the history of the tournament, along with Madonna and the South Korean group BTS, a concert modality that until now was reserved for the Super Bowl, which in this year’s edition starred the Puerto Rican Bad Bunny.

In a recent interview with EFE, the singer, who has participated in four editions of the World Cup, said that this will be her “most special World Cup”, not only because of her career linked to soccer, but also because of the social component of the event.

“This edition plans to leave an important legacy for all those children who have no visibility,” he said, reported Agencia EFE.
